Jérôme Dreyfuss Billy Bag

This purse is very popular in France and since I’ve never seen anyone in the US taking Billy in the wild — this post is overdue.

The Designer

Jérôme Dreyfuss only just came to the scene in 2002, but his bag collection called “Roots de Luxe” has been seen in French movies such as “Jeune et Jolie” and “Elles” and on the arms of French celebrities like Juliette Binoche, Emmanuelle Béart, and Diane Kruger. There’s no sign of his designs losing popularity with each new season featuring different colors and textures of his original models. Described as, “not quite hippie yet incredibly bohemian, slightly roots yet definitely luxurious”, we can see why the effortlessly chic French would flock to his designs.

The Specifications

Medium: 12 x 13.5 x 6 inches

Large: 16 x 17.5 x 8 inches

Straps: 2 top handles and a shoulder strap

Closure: 2 straps inside of the bag with 3 snap buttons that cinch it to different widths , 1 rivet that snaps at the top of the bag

Material: varies, past seasons have included: lambskin, deerskin, buffalo, goatskin, pony hair calfskin, denim, python.

My Favorites

Left to right: Bubbled Lambskin in Beige, Python in Black, Buffalo in Rose

The Look

Billy adds a casually polished look to any outfit. It is acceptable for the everyday work look, but its slouchy material and unstructured shape would feel too casual for a high-level meeting or interview. This bag is perfect for the woman who wants to bring some boho-chic into her wardrobe but also loves the look and feel of a luxurious handbag.
